Casaforte Bergum is a rare and remarkable example of fortified rural architecture dating back to the 14th century. Located in the municipality of Remanzacco, near the borders of Faedis and just a short drive from Cividale and Udine, it stands as a timeless witness to the region’s rich heritage.
Enclosed by ancient defensive walls, the estate includes the elegant Domus, home to historic artifacts and antique furnishings, the imposing defensive Tower, the Guesthouse, and several additional rural buildings. All structures have been meticulously restored with great care for historical authenticity, preserving their architectural integrity and charm with refined period décor.
Set within a 4-hectare park filled with majestic, centuries-old trees, the property offers a captivating glimpse into the past.
Nestled in the protected natural area of the Torre and Malina River Park, Casaforte Bergum is recognized by the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage as a site of significant historical, cultural, and landscape value.
Bergum is a proud member of the Consorzio Castelli del Friuli Venezia Giulia, a network that brings together owners of castles and historic fortifications united by a shared mission: to protect, preserve, and promote these heritage sites while giving them new relevance in today’s world.
One of the Consortium’s signature initiatives is Castelli Aperti—an event that opens the doors of privately owned castles, usually closed to the public, twice a year. It’s a unique opportunity to experience the region’s cultural legacy up close and connect with the traditions that continue to shape its identity.
